Meet the Artist

Jeanne’s journey with photography began when she was 49 years old. She took her first class with an amazing teacher who was a poetic visual artist. Photography as an art form – who knew? From that point on, the learning has never stopped. Seven years of college classes, endless experimentation, self-study, online courses – immersion has led her to deeply explore both the art and science of the discipline. And to listen to the muse who speaks through her. This journey has led her to connect with nature from so many different directions. These hummingbird photos are a distillation of her more than 25 years of artistic exploration. It all has led to focusing on tiny, often hidden details, so she is able to magnify joy and share delight with others.

Along the way, Jeanne has presented her work in numerous solo and group shows. Her art is displayed in various private and public collections, mostly in Richmond, VA and the DC area. Her art was included for many years in “Between Rounds” – a creative journal published by the Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Internal Medicine. She has been awarded numerous honors for art contests, including first prize and best in show awards in the National Arts Program through VCU Health System. But the delight that comes from connecting “hummingbird magic” with others who also find that view fascinating is the most rewarding honor there is. Come, share the magic!
